#51 Kool Sphere Zone Connect

I was able to get long time WST crew member Sphere out for a Sunday session last weekend..I think he took me out on this one…piecing all night the night before really took a lot out of me and I was out of gas by this time..but no excuses, he got me. I was feeling my color fade and the cleanliness of the piece, but the letters needed more swing for sure. I added the S on the end for shits and giggles…and it dont really match the rest of the letters.. Clown TITS joined in and rocked a dope color combo as well..that clowns piece really pops hard.Its been close to 5 years since I rocked with Sphere, and that’s way too long…we’re going to crush again soon I promise.

#50 The Halfway Point

Late night freestyle on the other side of the Avenue shop.  I spent some time on the fill here. This is a technique we used to do in the late 80’s when Phantom caps first started getting used in San Diego, which you don’t see too often nowadays. I think I’m going to keep working with this more often. I received a text from Kool Sphere while I was rocking the piece and he sent me a quick b-boy sketch which I flipped and added my own touches to.

Seems like it’s taken me forever to get to number 50…Long way to go yet..

#49 The Avenue

I received a text asking if I was down for this gig, a new shop was opening in town soon and they want graff inside, paint and compensation provided..OK sign me up….The request was for an “avenue” piece, as wild as I wanted to go and possibly a street sign, No problem those were some fun letters. I like how the piece came out, I was able to get a decent amount of style into the piece even though the space was limited…The Avenue is scheduled to open in September. Stop by and check out the work and cop some gear and supplies. Located on Imperial Ave across from the 62nd street Trolly stop.

#48 Renegades of Funk!

This was some real fun here. I was telling Topr about this “Renegades” silver piece I did in the Euclid Pit back in 88 or 89, and I got to thinking, why not do another one, but this time spell out the entire song title and add “of Funk” to it?? Hmm… I have enough silver I just needed a spot long enough, and this spot fit the bill perfectly for that. I also didn’t want to be spending too much time in this spot so I enlisted the help of my homie Werk VFW to blast in the fill with a fat cap and and the 3D while I did the outline and detail work.  We were done in about two hours. Not to bad for a couple of old salts. This piece was freestyled off the head with the backwards lower case e to pay respects to the year of 1988.

A little background on the Renegades thing. I was a prez of the VCR Crew back in 88/89 with most of the members  later to be absorbed into the TMK crew, and we called ourselves the VC Renegades, and I was also a member of the San Diego BBoy Crew Renegades of Funk who later became the SD chapter of RSC . #45 Scrap Can Disposal 

Getting rid of as many scrap cans as we could was the mission here.  With our last prodo here getting covered by some wierdo graff, it was time to go back and re-assert ourselves. We each brought all the scrap cans we had and emptied them into our fills to contrast against the gray background. I think it worked out pretty good and will clear out some storage room with getting rid of all the scraps.

My piece was a throw back of sorts, working some styles and techniques I saw Quasar do back in the late 80’s with my own twist of funk. I used all brands of scrap cans in my fill and outlined with an Evolve Crude Oil black and about a quarter can of Evolve silver used in the 3D. See you out there..

#44 Bringing Color to a Dull Landscape

Here’s a quick session from Style and I. I was able to put some of my newly acquired Evolve Paint to use on some thirsty raw concrete here. Colors still came out as bright as ever. We didn’t want to be hanging around here for too long so we did our thing and bounced. I like the contrast of the pieces against dull tan and brown landscape here. #43 Miami Ice

This was a fun and quick mission that Meps and Verse from the 004 crew took Clown and I on the day after we battled. The Evolve silver is the truth and I can”t wait to put more of it to work. The Ewok Red is really dope as well. Check out the flicks. This is a really dope spot If only I had more time. A guy could really put in some serious work here.
